Spiritual and mental woundedness is a dysfunction that affects a person's ability to think clearly. It may simply distort his or her ability to see objective reality, or it may be so overwhelming that he or she needs intensive care. Victimization by an injustice is often the cause of woundedness. The loss of a vital part of one's life-be it love, an individual, or whatever-can be disabling. (Chapters 2, 3, 4, 8, 9, and 10 of Lasting Success detail the nature of woundedness.)
True peace of mind and a feeling of wholeness occur when relationships are spiritually harmonious. Without God's help, wholeness in this sin-cursed world is impossible. "Even in laughter the heart is sorrowful; and the end of that mirth is heaviness" (Proverbs 14:13).
