Is faith unrealistic? Far from it. Faith in the living God brings us in touch with reality. Faith is an invisible support system that provides insight and strength to face and overcome visible problems. "Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen" (Hebrews 11:1).
We cannot see God with our eyes, but we can obey His instruction and proceed by faith. Satan's trick, of course, is to fill us with deceptive emotions generated by our old nature, to destroy our faith and convince us to rely upon the world.
"Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God; To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: That he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus. Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? of works? Nay: but by the law of faith" (Romans 3:25-27, emphasis added).
"He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God; And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform" (Romans 4:20-21, emphasis added).
