This is the subject of Chapter Six in Lasting Success. The one basic reason why some Christians are unsteady in purpose and direction is that they fail to listen to God and proceed according to His instructions.
Underlying this failure are two key factors:
- We do not understand that ever since the fall of man recorded in Genesis, mankind has been inundated with delusions of truth. As a consequence of man's rejection of God and Satan's intrusion, our opinions about what is right are NOT reliable!
"For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit. For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace" (Romans 8:5-6).
- 2. When calamity hits us, we tend to think we are ruined. That is not true! "All things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called, according to his purpose . . . to be conformed to the image of His Son" (Romans 8:28b, 29b).
