 Law

Laws, in their most important sense, are the rules for action which are prescribed by man's Creator. He is the all-powerful righteous One, superior to and independent from all else. Because God knows the dangers of life, it is imperative for the inferior being (mankind) to understand and obey God's will.
"These are the eternal, immutable laws of good and evil, to which the creator himself in all his dispensations conforms; and which He has enabled human reason to discover, so far as they are necessary for the conduct of human actions. Such among others are these principles: that we should live honestly, should hurt nobody, and should render to every one its due; to which three general precepts justification has reduced the whole doctrine of law."
William Blackstone, The Commentaries on the Laws of England, vol. 1 (1st ed. 1765-1769; reprint, Chicago, IL: University of Chicago Press, 1979), 1: 40-41.

Truth and moral uprightness are examples of discernable goals for good laws. It is the duty of federal, state, and local officials elected by the people to institute good laws, and to do so they must emulate God's law as closely as they can. Respect for God and the success of individuals, communities, and nations go hand in hand.
